About: While figuring out a way not to line the haekelbeutal I was making I came up with this square. You can see the progress of the haekelbeutal I am making with this square here.
Special Stitches: Corner Cluster (5dc in 1 stitch that forms a corner)
Notes: The original pattern was designed using an H crochet hook and 4 rounds to achieve a 5 inch square. If you choose not to change colors please read the note at the bottom of the pattern for directions on how to accomplish this. Lastly this square is quite versatile meaning you can make it as big or small as you want using different size hooks and adding rows or doing less rows.

This pattern has been tested. If you do use it and would like to tell me of a correction or a better way to write a part of the pattern please let me know.

Directions:

With color A (CA) ch6 and join with a slip stitch to make a loop.

ROUND 1: ch 3 (counts as the first dc now & throughout), 15 dc in loop. Join to top ch 3 with a slip stitch.

ROUND 2: ch3, 4 dc is same stitch as joining. *dc in next 3 dc, corner cluster in next stitch* repeat 2 more times. dc in next 3 stitches. Join to top ch 3 with a slip stitch.

ROUND 3: ch3, dc in next stitch, corner cluster in next stitch. *dc in next 7 stitches, corner cluster in next stitch* repeat 2 times. dc in next 5 stitches. Join to top ch3 with slip stitch. Finish off CA.

ROUND 4: Join CB with a slip stitch in the middle of any corner cluster. ch3, 4dc in same stitch. *dc in next 11 stitches, corner cluster in next* repeat 2 times. dc in next 11 stitches. Join to top of ch3 with slip stitch. Finish off CB.

Alternate Ending

This is how you would continue if you chose not to change colors after row 3.
ROUND 4: ch3, dc in next 4 stitches, corner cluster in next stitch. *dc in next 11 stitches, corner cluster in next stitch* repeat 2 times. dc in next 7 stitches. Join to top ch3 with slip stitch.

To Keep Adding Rows

To keep adding rows you would continue as row 4 but make sure to place corner cluster in the middle stitch of previous rows corner cluster.
